I don't know California law but most places just pay you for an extra day if you are scheduled to be off on a Holiday. Maybe even overtime or double time. However being on Salary- as I am, I don't think they are required to do anything- since you are paid the same no matter how many hours you work.
2 :
There are no laws in the US regarding paid holidays for employees of private companies. Whether you get a paid day off is completely up to the employer. You should ask them.
3 :
If you're paid a salary, then no. If you get paid hourly, then maybe, based on the policies of the business you work for. Some businesses provide the day off with pay, some do not. There is no law requiring paid day off. If working on that day, you'll get time-and-a-half, if a full time employee.
4 :
Since you are salary, you get paid whether or not you work. What pay would you expect to get? You cannot get paid commission if you didn't earn it. Companies in all states are not required to pay for holidays, but many do in order to attract employees. This should be addressed in your employee handbook.

Nope Q. Last week I worked eight hours on the 4th of July holiday, which fell on Wednesday. For the whole week I worked 40 hours. When I got my paycheck this week I was paid for 40 hours at my straight time rate. ArenĂ¢€™t I entitled to extra pay, of at least double time, for working on a holiday? A. There is nothing in state law that mandates an employer pay an employee a special premium for work performed on holidays, Saturdays, or Sundays, other than the overtime premium required for work in excess of eight hours in a workday or 40 hours in a workweek. Unless your employer has a policy or practice of paying a premium rate for working on a holiday, or you are subject to a collective bargaining or employment agreement that contains such a term, your employer is only required to pay you your regular rate of pay for all the straight time hours worked on the holiday, and the overtime premium required for work in excess of eight hours in a workday or 40 hours in a workweek. Since you did not work over eight hours on the holiday, or more than 40 hours during the workweek, you were paid correctly.
6 :
It's all up to your company policy. My bet is you don't get anything extra.

Good Part-Time, Entry-Level Job for an Anthropology Major / Classics Minor in or around Long Beach, CA?
I am a third-year college student at the California State University, Long Beach, where I am working on an Anthropology Major and a Classics Minor. I am looking for a part-time, entry-level job in or around Long Beach, CA. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a museum or something like that. I am available to work daytime hours (8-5) M, W, F and Sat/Sun. Thank you for your help!!!

Naples area in Long Beach is nice but may be pricey... you should consider the city of Lakewood, CA and remember some parts of Long Beach (North) can be kind of bad. Good luck
2 :
Belmont Shores - or nearby Seal Beach and Sunset Beach are beautiful

About Can long distance relationships work for high schoolers
Can long distance relationships work for high schoolers?
I met this guy at the beach this summer. I had known him for several years but we just hit it off this year. I even stayed longer with him at the beach when my family left. We both really like each other, maybe even love. However, he lives in Europe and I live in the States. Is there any way we can make it work? Or should I just try to forget my heart and get over him?

doubt it

you can try and make it work.. there's countless ways you can keep in touch and things like skype mean you can talk to each other regularly for free. you can make it work, but it depends how important actually seeing a person is to you and him. perhaps give it a go and if it doesn't work out, make sure that you end things mutually and decide to remain friends until the time is right for you both. good luck
3 :
Try you will never know unless you try anything is possible. The only way it will not work if you doubt the relationship.
4 :
I won't say it can't work, but the odds aren't in your favor. It would take a lot of work, which may or may not be worth it in the end. Honestly, I've always had the feeling that if I didn't know how something was going to work out, then I owe it to myself to find out. A relationship like that requires an unbelievable amount of trust and honesty. If you're not prepared to put the work in for it, then get over him. If you think it's worth a shot, well then, it probably is.

when i was in highschool i was in a long distance relationship (well it wasn't exactly long distance but we didn't go to the same schoool nor see eachother often..like once every 4 months...) and hey it worked out we are still together. we talked almsot everyday and we are reallya great couple
6 :
Long distance are REALLY hard. I mean i am away from my boyfriend only 7 weeks in a year & we are having problems cause we can't really exchange our love and shit over the interner! I think since you don't see him for like a year maybe make it an Open Relationship!
7 :
Look my long distance relationship didnt work at all. The fights started every week and we missed holding eachother..its just sad when your upset and they cant come hug you and say everything is going to be ok. But it might work outthough so if you think you love him alot and you can trust him then go for it.
8 :
Impossible 2 work unless 1 of u moves 2 the others country.

About Where is the best place in Orange County CA for a married couple in their late twenties to live
Where is the best place in Orange County CA for a married couple in their late twenties to live?
My husband may be working in Long Beach and I may be working in Garden Grove. We would like to keep our rent under $2,000 a month, and we have a small dog. We are moving from Chicago, so we are use to having a lot of things within walking distance.

Depends heavily on your budget

I grew up in Garden Grove but it has changed A LOT since I was there. For a fun, upbeat area try huntington beach area. It has a lot of people in your age group and main street is a great place to walk to for shops, restaurants and the beach. You could also drive to Garden Grove without having to get on the freeway. The other place to consider would be Costa Mesa. There are some affordable apartments and homes near South Coast plaza area which has plenty of parks, shopping and restaurants. Again, you could drive to Garden Grove with very little freeway needed. I would suggest checking craiglist.org of the OC Register (the local newspaper) for places to live in those areas. Links for you below. Good Luck!
